I now teach all of my virtual sewing classes through Zoom and by video phone.
Each class is fitted to your needs.
Private lessons give you the opportunity for one-on-one, personal assistance on the projects and topics that you desire.
You will learn all of the skills that you need to sew like a pro! It is my desire to share my love of sewing with you.

UNLV Online class: Sewing from a Pattern by Mary Ann Racheau
Feel confident creating new projects from a pattern. Understand how to follow the process of assembling a simple garment or craft item from a pattern. This class features an informational packet covering all aspects of working with 3 types of sewing patterns, created by Mary Ann Racheau, Las Vegas costume and fashion designer and Master Sewing Educator.
Prerequisite: Skill Level: Beginner This student is unfamiliar with sewing terms, supplies and notions and basic sewing techniques. The student has very little or no experience in using a sewing machine. basic machine knowledge: winding a bobbin, threading the machine; changing feet, tension settings and stitch settings. The student also has little or no knowledge about fabric, grain or selvage, pattern direction, thread, scissors, needles, pins and taking proper measurements.

Course: Introduction to Costuming: Stage, Theatre, and Dance Productions

Course Description:
This course outlines and follows the creation of a theatrical costume from the designer’s concept, sketch and swatching, through the steps of creation to the finished costume as it appears on stage. Become familiar with the tools, methods and techniques used in designing and creating a theatrical costume. Become familiar with the draping process and various sewing techniques that are used in costume construction. Included in the class are hands-on demonstrations, backstage videos of the costume creation process and samples of items from some of the world’s most famous shows. This class is presented by Mary Ann Racheau, Las Vegas costume and fashion designer and Master Sewing Educator. Mary Ann was formerly a Costume Technician for Cirque du Soleil’s KA, the Lead Seamstress for the Siegfried and Roy Show in Las Vegas and the Costumier for the ballet and opera. It is her desire to pass on the love of sewing to all who want to experience the joy of creating.

Mary Ann Racheau has over 30 years of experience in costume and fashion design and construction for some of the wold's most famous Las Vegas shows. In the past, Mary Ann spent 8 years as a Costume and Shoe Technician for Cirque du Soleil’s KA' at the MGM Grand. Her background includes 14 years as the Lead Seamstress for the Siegfried & Roy Show at the Mirage and 6 years as the Costumier for Nevada Dance Theatre, Nevada Opera Theatre, the Mickey Finn Show and various Las Vegas productions.
Her extensive background in the entertainment field lends a distinct look to the characters that she creates.
​
She is a designer of her own unique line of collectible teddy bears, dolls and quilts. Mary Ann's unique work has been featured in newspapers, on TV and in collectible magazines. She was asked to create 2 of the Broadway Bears. The bears represented the Broadway shows, Ain't Misbehavin' and Sugar Babies and were signed by Mickey Rooney, Ann Miller and Nel Carter. She has created boxer character dolls for Leon Spinks and Larry Holmes. One of Mary Ann's show bears honored Liberacci and was shown in the Liberacci Museum next to the famous Fabrege Egg costume that it represented.

Her skills include teaching, pattern cutting, designing, alterations, dyeing, design and construction of garments and costumes, leather work, jewelry making, teddy bear and quilt making.
Mary Ann is available to teach all of her sewing skills through Zoom and her virtual classes.

The glitz, the glamor and the love of the stage are captured in each of these one-of-a-kind theatrical bears.
All of the "Vegas Teddies" and "Teddy Cats" are 5 way jointed using discs and cotter pins. Each is completely hand made with glass eyes, embroidered nose and mouth and are filled with Poly/fil stuffing. Each soft sculpture character is embellished in its' own whimsical style.

Mom
Like all mom's, this teddy will love you forever. Mom is an OOAK teddy standing 12" tall. She is made from honey beige mohair with a shaved muzzle and paw pads. She has glass eyes and an embroidered nose and mouth. She is 5-way jointed using discs and cotter pins.

Mom is wearing her mauve satin dress trimmed in lace with a matching bonnet and purse. She wears lace trimmed bloomers. She has a 3-ribbon neck dressing. Her clothing is fully removable.

Mom's handmade faux pearl necklace completes her outfit. She comes with an ornament reminder that "Mom loves best". Her right foot pad has MOM embroidered on it.
